Looking for input on my parts selection And direction
car is a classic pickup,3.55 rear gear. 4l80e, lq4,243 heads. I’m on an extremely tight budget as I still have to finish the truck. Goal is to possibly turbo later on. I want it to sound old school muscle car but have good torque I don’t want it soggy down low.
my plans are. New oil pump, lifters, pac springs, trunion upgrade and cam. I’m looking at the sloppy stage 2 elgin.want to do pushrods as well.
i want input on parts as in can I use a budget 230$ converter that’s around 2500-2800 stall, is there a better cam for my setup? And where are you guys getting your gasket sets? Everything seems extremely expensive that I’ve seen.
also I do not have the computer, and only have a stock harness. What’s more cost effective, buying a stock computer, flashing it then trying to get hp tuners, and re doing a stock harness or just going with the expensive Holley setup? Again looking for the most cost effective way. Goal is 425hp I hope.
also what are some other affordable mods I need to do, like oil pickup o ring I hear a lot, maybe oil bypass? I’m new, excuse my ignorance please.
But NOT by a lot, the Holley Terminator x max with wire harness is $1300.00 figure another $300 in miscellaneous wiring, fuse block and relays.
I am going with the stock stuff for now because i have it, if i didn't have the stock stuff and so much project left I'd go with the Holley without a second thought especially since i am familiar with aftermarket stand-alone systems.
After seeing that cam perform on Holdener's Dyno i am also considering it. Id like to know how much vacuum that cam makes at idle???
