So a customer brought over some heads for me to assemble and he gave me these valves to Lapp
now these are stock valves from a 241 head, I guess he sanded them can we Lapp them and use them or should I tell him to bring me other valves because I know stock valves I’ve seen have the black on the back of them
Best I can tell it looks like those valves have had a lot of work done on them. They look radiused and possibly back cut with under cut stems. That usually makes for good power except the radius, that should only be done on exhaust valves.
No idea if you can use them without doing some checking. Probably best to have a competent machine shop check them out and see if the angles are still good, thickness of the sealing surface etc.
Thats garbage dude. Go to a competent machine shop and they will verify that for you.
It was an old rusty valve someone polished. The problem is there are still rust pits in the margin area.
Are all the valves like this one? The owner is expecting miracles if they are....
