Default Oil pressure

New member here, but have read alot of stuff on this site!
my questio is this, i put a 5.3l into an old chevy coupe for a guy who purchased the engine with a gm hotcam, springs and new gasket set, unknown mileage but probably around 250,000km
when i got it i put in a melling 10295 hi pressure pump, but otherwise completely stock
I have put on about 200miles on the car after dyno tuned ( works very well, decent power, driveability)
when i first started it up (prelubed) oil pressure was 50-60psi cold, dropped to about 25-30 at operating temp, figured right on! Looks good!
Fast forward to this past friday afternoon and was driving it down the highway, parked at a buddys place, got in, made it about 2 miles down and noticed 25psi at 2500rpm
on the gauge
Slowed down and gauge dropped to 10psi.
limped it home and put an actual mechanical gauge on it (at top port)which confirmed the dash gauge
Last night i ripped the pan off to check the o-ring, looks very nice, figured take the pump off and see if it was trashed, nope looked like new,
Checked pickup tube, pressure checked-good
has f-body pan, matching moroso tube,gm gaskets and o-ring
Any help to find the issue would be greatly appreciated!!! Would like to get this car back to customer

Pressure relief valve hung open in the pump?

Kinda what i was thinking when I removed the pump, i tried to remove the allen cap plug on the pump but that thing is ridiculous tight, ended up rounding it out,
by that time it was late, and i was beat

Forgot to mention, when I have low pressure at idle and rev it up a bit, pressure wont increasemore than a needle width, let off it comes up about 5 psi

Sounds rather like a leaking pickup -> pump O-ring.

Check the cam retainer plate as well. That was my issue a while back.

I checked the cam plate, gasket has a cut spot, pretty flat too
going to give that a try with a new gm pump and see what happens

Tried loading picturepictures sunday but don't seem to show up

After a few test drives it looks like the cam plate fixed it, put a new gm pump on anyway
