Default ls1 pullout need opinions

Have a 02 Camaro Pull out with 90k according to the odometer. Ran fine no smoke body was just rough and I wanted it for my 2nd gen Camaro.

Here is where I'm torn. I wanted an ls3 for this car but couldnt pass up the deal on the ls1 and in the end going ls3 would push me finishing this to well forever. So know i have a body and a power train and a most of the suspension. So wiring interior brakes wheels that kind of stuff is all thats left.

so I know this motor is still gonna set for a while, knowing the above should I bother tearing it open or not? Ive thought about doing a cam and springs but i dont have a HP requirement for this project. Just always wanted a 2nd gen and the LS is a great platform and this one was to cheap to pass up.

So open her up and modify or not bother and focus on the car running.

Maybe stick a 212/218 .550/.550 112LSA cam and some LS2/3/6 valve springs in it. Even that small a cam will give it a nice kick without losing any real low end.

Knowing the motor will sit for a while, I would want to do a leak down test now and make sure all is good. That can help with planning what you want to do.

I would wait to mod the motor. Its easy to crack an engine open and get side tracked with a big project. Likewise if you decide to sell the LS1 later and get the LS3 when the car is ready you won't have sunk mod money into the motor.

I agree. Focus on getting the car running. Save mods for revision surgery

Thanks.gang I'm degreasing it currently. Probably gonna.paint the block and start dressing it up while Ive got it setting. I'll do a leakdown and call it a day and if it ends up being a turd.....I'll look into a ls3
