Default 2020 Lifter Thread

I've done a little bit of reading on here and I know this has been covered over the course of the years, but I figured I would ask anyway since data changes and longevity takes time to come fruition.

I have an 04 GTO with a stock LS1 with just over 100k. Motor is a little rough, the car was run very hard, but the compression is good and it runs well overall. I purchased a TSP Torquer V4 Cam and BTR .660 dual springs with steel retainers. Pushrods are TBA. The car will have a 3200 stall, and I plan to rev it to 6500 and eventually hit it with 100 shot.

I would like to purchase a new set of lifters because the ones in the engine are very noisy, and I believe they are worn out. I have read all the previous threads. I am not looking for something un-necessarily expensive. I will daily drive the car with occasional track use. It will see much lighter duty than it did with the previous owner. I would like to get 50k more miles out of the setup.

My question is which lifter to by and where to get it. I was considering the delphi's from SDPC, are there realistically any better options in the sub $250 range? How have these held up since 2011 and 2016?

Thank you for your input,

Dan

Morel 6504's are decent for the money and will handle that rpm. That being said I don't think 6500 is enough rpm for that Cam.

Yes... I have that TSP V4 and at 6500 it's still pulling. The limiter is set at 7000 and I'm sure it will rev well past that. I have the Morel 6504's also and they are much quieter than the "bulk" Delphi lifters I had on two previous camshafts. Checked PR length with a checker and tried two different PR lengths and could never get rid of the "sewing machine" noise with the Delphi's. WS6store has the Morels for $209 no tax free shipping.

Here is a vid of the "sewing machine" noise with the Delphi lifters.

The sound cuts in and out with my GoPro but you can hear the valvetrain clatter

Wow! I'm really happy I asked the question. I always like to use the search function first but I figured between 2016 and now, you guys would have more experience with them and there would be a "go to." I'm good with the morels, had link bars in the corvette in my avatar; they were great but this gto does not warrant them.

In regard to my abused ls1 with 115k miles... and this torquer v4 cam and bone stock 4l60e... I would think shifting at 6500 is pushing the limit... than again I see guys shifting 200k mile vortec 5.3s at 7000... thoughts?

I went with the morel 6504 as well when I did my cam and head install. Tsp cam 227/234 duration, 600 lift, dual springs. They are quiet and no ticking or sewing machine noise.

6500 is definitely not pushing the limit. I have a 2000 LS1 with the weaker rod bolts and I turn 7000 RPM every day. You have a 2004, spin it and don't worry about it.

Default Johnson's

Does anyone happen to know when the Johnson's will be available? Specifically the 2110 and 2110R'S. They seem to be out everywhere.

The gear and converter I am not concerned about. I am running 3.55s and a 3200 stall in my Chevelle with a monster cam and its perfect

Different car, different trans and weight. There is a difference.
