Default 10 pounds of oil pressure

Hi everyone 👋 I just recently completed my first ever engine rebuild. The rig sounds great, but I have low oil pressure. I run 10psi on cold start and while hot. It doesn't matter what rpm it is at it stays at 10. I have replaced the oil pressure sending unit. Reads the same, along with the same on a mechanical gauge. It does make the normal lifter noise. Definitely more quiet then before my rebuild. There was something I read about, the barbell. Would that cause a loss in pressure? I didn't replace it because I didn't even know it existed until after the fact. Any help would be greatly appreciated along with any advise from you pros. Thank you guys in advance 👍👍

Where are you measuring pressure with mechanical gauge? Gen 3 with no screen below pressure sending unit? Interesting pressure doesn't change with temp or rpm.

Keying in on the “rebuild” word, did you have the block at a shop? Was it vatted or baked? If so, you likely do not have an oil divertor (barbell) in place, being as how you didn’t know it existed until engine was running. If the block wasn’t at the shop, meaning the barbell was left in place because you never removed it, I’d lean more toward the oil pump o-ring or perhaps even the pump itself have a stuck bypass valve assembly.

I did take it to a shop. The gentleman owned a machine shop for 30 years and retired. He did the work from home. He kept everything he needed to continue doing it just out of his personal shop. Anyways I took picture when I got it back, the barbell was still in there. None of my oil passage plugs are missing. The o ring I was very careful with. I took my time because I didn't want to mess it up. The oil pump I unfortunately did not pack with any Vaseline. I put assembly oil in it and worked it around about 5 - 6 times then installed. I should've packed it I just didn't know at the time. I know now... the oil pump is also new. It's a melling oil pump. I just want this thing to run good. I've gave it my best and I want to see this through. Thank you for the reply

Check the o-ring for the oil pump and the camshaft retaining plate. You always need to use a new camshaft retaining plate. It maybe a simple fix.
