Looking to buy some head studs but not sure what to get. I have the option of getting ARP 234-4316 (2003 and earlier) and ARP 234-4317 (2004 and later). I know my engine is a gen 3 because of the cam sensor location but not sure if it's a late model gen3. Are there any indicators that tell me what year my gen 3 is? I saw that you can measure the cam bearing but the bottom of my engine is already put together.
Mine doesn't have a code in that location. It has a that little circle thing stamped in it. However, in the passenger side front of the block (opposite of where the 5.3 is stamped) it there is a stamp that says G14. I'm assuming that means G = July, 1 = Day, 4 - year.
I just looked a little close and realized there is a date code although it looks altered. The day looks to be welded over... I guess I don't need it to figure out the date. Kind of weird. Thoughts? Thanks again
