LQ4 build...1000hp
Hey everyone! I came across this forum and I’m glad I did.
I just picked up a 2003 6.0 LQ4 with the 317 heads. The previous owner said the rear seal went out while he was mudding his truck. Soon as he saw the oil pressure drop he shut it down. The cylinders appear to be fine still. I took the heads off to check them out. I haven’t pulled the piston, crank, cam etc yet. But I gave $350.00 for the engine. I figure it was worth it.
my goal is to strip it, have it hot tanked, cleaned up, and pressure checked.
I don’t want to bore it out. I want to put new forged pistons, rings, rods, and a new crank in.
port and polish the heads and upgrade all the head internals as well.
unsure on the intake. He kept the stock intake off of the motor.
To finish things off I want to turbo it.
I’d love for 900-1,000hp at the rear wheels.
which internals do you suggest for the bottom end?
which internals for the heads do you guys suggest?
Which intake do you guys suggest?
Which turbo do you suggest?
I’ve been leaning towards Texas speed for everything other than the turbo. But I don’t know what type of prices I’d be looking at.
my budget is around $6-7,000 for the complete motor build. The motor will be going in a 2010 camaro ss with an automatic transmission
i was going to build it for a 67 c10 but I’m going a different route for that project.
any information would be appreciated

Check out SloppyMechanics on YouTube. He has a wiki and builds 1,000 hp turbo LS platforms on the regular. He's also on here, his username is Denmah. I believe he would have all the expertise you're looking for.

I made 850 on a gen 3 lq4 with the rings gapped and a turbo cam with a 84mm turbo through a 80e and 9inch. 17 psi e85 on 17 degrees.
off the trailer it went 6.0 on the 1.8 and 1.5 60 foot. it was super fun, i removed it to install my forged 5.3 and will be pushing this one to over 1000 hopefully. this engines can make a lot of power. forging it will help a lot, the rods are weak. make sure you have a good fuel set up and tuner.
cheers and have fun.
