LQ4 cam question

LQ4 cam question I going to do the install soon of my lq4 in my 68 firebird and I'm trying to choose between. The Elgin 1840p or the Sum 8706. I have admerations of adding a turbo but want to run it n/a first. I have gapped the rings and have a 3000 stall. I will be also adding Pac 1218 springs. Just can't decide between the to cams. I know they are very similar.

Like you said, very little difference. Not over 2 degrees difference in the valve events. 3 degrees difference in overlap with the summit cam having 2 and the Sloppy cam having 5. Summit cam has a little more lift.
IDK, would be interesting to see a pull on both. I've seen some pulls Richard Holdener has made with the Sloppy cam and it was pretty impressive, even down low. I like the extra lift the Summit cam has and that it has 3 degrees less overlap but, thats just me.

The SS2 will chop a little more if that is important. I ran the SS2 in a stock LQ9 with headers, dual exhaust, 3200 stall and was happy with the performance. The SS2 specs requires a 10.5 minimum compression. The dished piston LQ4 may be a little lazy down low with it's factory 9.4:1 in a N/A setup.
