I have a gen III 5.3 lm7 block that was left outside water went inside the block started cleaning engine, took out a piston to inspect rings found that there's corrosion, should I replace the pistons with new rings or just new rings and clean the pistons? I still need to finish honing the rest of the cylinder walls all through out
At the minimum replace the rings. Depending upon how bad the corrosion is on the cylinder walls, you may need machine work. If you feel the cylinder walls clean up okay, just clean the pistons up and reuse them.
That depends. Have you put a micrometer on the pistons and measure their respective bores to see what your P-W is? You should be .0025-.0035 if within spec and from that you will know what direction to go.
