What I heard here is similar. Not really loping, just lugging down, the difference here being the computer keeping the idle level. Now, if when going right off idle the timing goes right back to where it should be, fuel consumption should not noticeably change.
There's a saying, "better to think one is slow, than to race someone and remove all doubt"

well honestly most of the ls cars you hear that lopes with like a rump-rump-rump sound is usually amplified with the timing swings that I showed here. I probably would have shown more on the computer but I can’t get used to hearing myself talk and talking to a phone, I feel like I’m talking to myself. I haven’t gotten past that yet.
I did notice that if I made the lope more pronounced, it actually showed a touch less fuel usage. My theory is because the time is swinging higher.

This is the "saw blade" idle timing pattern you see in HP Tuners with a lot of -/+ over/underspeed.

IIRC I was -13 / +13 at the time. Sounded good but rocked my truck side to side like a race car

Dropping from thirteens to -10/+10

Idle smoothed out and side to side rocking non noticeable

Just pull a plug wire off and lower the idle

It'll be slow, and chop at idle lol
