Default 5.3 build

I’m new to this group but I’m 19 and have a 1971 nova ss and I’m putting a 5.3 gen 3 into it. I have hooker headers, I picked up 243 heads for a good deal that I plan on getting port and polished. I have a Chevy performance hot cam with duration @.050lift intake 219/ exhaust 228 and maximum lift I-.525 E-.525. With a good set of ls6 value springs. I plan on getting forged rods but don’t know which ones yet and running the 4.8 flat top pistons with FAST LSXr intake. Ls7 lifter and getting crank balanced. Along with ARP bolts through out. Is there anything that I should or shouldn’t do with this set up or anything I need to change also don’t know how much hp I’m looking at.

Avoid the LS7 lifters.

Go with Johnson link-bar lifters if you can and do away with the plastic lifter trays. Have you considered boring the 4.8/5.3 block 3.898 bore and make an iron LS1 because I feel the 243's would benefit from the larger bore size and that's still plenty of camshaft.

I have thought about it but I just don’t know that much about it yet. Is there anything I would have to change besides the pistons and boring it out bigger. I’m wanting to make it a super reliable engine that’s still has good power. Also are there any other lifters that y’all would recommend from $100-350

There's nothing wrong with ls7 lifters for this build. Also Summit Racing makes their own branded version as well and likely has better quality controls.
