4.8 cam swap issue
100k mile motor very clean but these spots on the end of a few of the cam lobes has me worried.
is this normal? It doesn't seem normal but wanted to guage your thoughts on what i should do.
this is a plain ol spring and cam swap, stock to a btr stage 4 truck cam.
swap and send it?
replace lifters?
Go ahead and do what you're doing, only, dial the cam back acoupla steps, and add a set of lifters, PAC1218 valve springs, and an adjustable push rod tool to it. Then order new push rods in the appropriate length after the rest is all assembled.
The cam you want is the 212/218 one. Not sure what BTR calls it but TSP calls it a "Stage 2", I think BTR is about the same. A Stage 4 cam no matter whose it is, will be WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY too much for a 4.8, especially with a stock converter. It'll "sound" "great" but won't leave for $hit. The Kia minivans will humiliate you in parking lots, let alone on the street.
