Is this Excessive ring gap N/A

Hello all,

I have built my lq4 forged rod/piston short block for mild boost with ring gap coming in at .028in. Which would be grand for boost. However the budget is falling short right now and I’m wondering what would happen if I was to drop the motor in and run N/A for awhile?
also can someone plz explain whether or not I’ll need a pcv setup or just a vented setup? I assumed vented as the ring gap is big for N/A and I expect some blow by. I just wonder how detrimental this will be on horsepower.

You will be fine. I have had engines with 0.050 to 0.090 and they made it to 150mph but anything over 0.045 starts guzzling oil and smoking off throttle.
