Lq4 low oil pressure sometimes Hey y’all, I finally got the 6.0 swap done, and she runs!!!
at startup, it reads 45 psi of oil pressure, will drop to 35 at idle warm. However, when driving or getting into it a little bit, it will drop to 5 psi, and the low oil pressure light will flash. No noises in the engine. When I built this engine I replaced the oil pump and made sure the new oring wasn’t pinched and I used a new cam retainer gasket. What the hell could be the issue? It will read high and drop and never come back up. Now, I did see that this 2004 LQ4 I swapped into my 2002 Yukon had a small style oil pressure switch, shaped like a muffin. Does this style have the screen under it? Obviously I can’t see it because the engine is in. The new OPS is the taller version so it can work with my harness. Thanks!

Yeah sorry about that. It’s a brand new pump, doesn’t mean the valve can’t be stuck open but unlikely. I had a shitty car quest OPS, it read super super low, so I put a orileys one in there and it read higher but then drops off after giving heavy throttle like 20-30 minutes down the road. Should I get a delco one?
