Default 1721 camshaft in LS2

This would also be just like putting 243 heads on a stock LQ9 short block with the stock cam has anyone done that My question is, a stock LS2 or LQ9 with 243 heads is going to be almost 11 to 1, the LS2 cam has a much later IVC than the LQ9 cam so would this create too much dynamic compression to run a 1721 in a LS2 style longblock moving A 3500lb vehicle that gets lugged around below 3k all the time?

Here is a dyno comparison of the two cams in a cathedral port 6.0 liter truck engine:



An LS2 is 10.88:1. As you said, 243 heads on an LQ9 is essentially an iron LS2.

Bearing in mind that DCR computations don't take VE into consideration, here they are for the two engines:

I was also wondering since you guys have tested so many different stock combinations if there's any measurable performance benefits to increasing pushrod preload with any of the stock camshafts, not sure I've noticed as much a performance increase necessarily but in bracket racing I feel like I have a more consistent engine when there is less play in the valve train with aftermarket camshafts those of course usually need longer push rods
