Talking Which spark plug?

Hi all, I have a 2002 Z06 383 stroker track car that has mahle pistons, OEM ignition, crane cam, ported heads and headers on pump gas 93. I have no idea what compression ratio or size of cam unfortunately. Currently it has NGK TR5IX Iridium spark plugs, my question is is this a good plug? It runs at full throttle and no street use, but I have read a colder plug might be in order? I also heard silver tipped plugs might be a good choice? THX Brian

Unless the plug is showing me otherwise, I’d stay right there. You need to base plugs on compression, fuel and usage of vehicle (rpm). Maybe jump to a TR6IX, which is a step colder, but seriously unless your seeing a reason to change heat ranges, I’d stick with the 5’s. The TR5’s are a great plug.

OP, unless you are seeing issues with knocking pre-ignition or severe fowling of the plugs youre in the right heat range. Going to a cooler plug might help something but what I don't know. There are no issues as of right now to deal with apparently

What they said.

FWIW - My 383 LS1, was happier with the cooler TR6 plug at .045 than the TR55.

Need pics of spark plug base to see how much heat is in plug. Prefer from the cylinder(s) that are the hottest. Typically doesn't hurt to run the coldest plug you can without fouling to minimize preignition potential.
