Reassembling engine after cleaning/no oil in bearings Like the title says, I tore my ls1 down to bare block minus the crank. Polished rod journals, honed cylinders, so I’m cleaning it thoroughly with wd and brake cleaner. My fear is that in doing this it strips the oil from the main bearings. Will turning them over dry (not fired up) hurt anything till oil is able to get there?Obviously all other parts will get assembly lube on install but don’t want to pull crank for a couple reasons.

On the bearings I have access too, cam and rod bearings yes of course. But I won’t be pulling the crank main bearings, those are the ones I’m concerned about, seeing if it’s alright to turn over initially without oil in there, or a different way to send them oil without disassembly.
Build a cheap pressure pre-lube setup. Here is one video but you can build one out of a cheap pump type .

One other thing you might want to do is to run oil through your oil pump before you install it. I recently helped with an LS2 refresh for an '05 C6 using assembly lube on all the bearings, putting oil on the underside of the pistons, WD 40 on the piston rings, and the oil pressure came up almost instantly.

I was going to suggest this also, but I’d be afraid to do this and push cleaning debris through. This thing really, really needs the crank out and washed. Wouldn’t take another couple of hours.
