Default Bad Crankshaft sensor resetting trip odometer?

I know it probably doesn’t make any sense but hear me out first. 5 months ago my 99 TA started hesitating, jumping, dying, no throttle response, while out for a drive so I made it home. No codes but I Hooked up the code reader anyways and it was saying bad crankshaft sensor. So order a new one and it didn’t fix it. Car won’t even drive, starts occasionally but dies.
fast forward to two weeks ago and find the wires running to the crankshaft sensor, starter, etc. we’re burned by the headers.fix it. Fire up the car, starts and runs. I noticed it would reset my trip odometer every time I started the car, (never happened before) and the car was slightly hesitating or throttle response would leave for a split second, once every 5-10 miles, and would come back on. Then I realized I used a cheap Chinese Amazon crankshaft sensor and these things like the ac delco ones. Change it out last night, didn’t get to drive it much but it seemed to be better. Didn’t notice any throttle cutting out AND the trip odometer isn’t resetting. It’s holding its miles. Checked again this morning and it’s still holding.
I didn’t remove any wires/grounds while replacing the crankshaft sensor. So could that sensor have something to do with the trip odometer working correctly now that a good sensor is in? I wouldn’t think it would, but it’s a weird coincidence that it stopped messing up when I changed it to a good one.
anyone have any thoughts?

Couple of thoughts.

1) GM, Denso, Bosche or NAPA best quality sensors, coils, etc really help avoid issues in my experience.

2) Happy it's sorted out

3) Please use punctuation and paragraphs for long posts. Otherwise, they are unnecessarily hard to read. If it’s hard to read, fewer people read or reply.

A few thoughts about Delco electronic products. I too have noticed a difference in performance between Delco products and big box aftermarket stuff. Case in point, I bought a TPS a few years ago from Oreilly's. It sold for about $15 less than the Delco and came with a lifetime warranty. I had to return it a month later. Then after that one also failed, I asked for a credit and applied it to the purchase of a new Delco TPS. That was 4 years ago.

There were other examples over the years, but this was the most recent. Another point, always buy Delco or Fel Pro gaskets. Mahle has a good price, but I had trouble with one of their head gaskets.
