Default Need help finding bearings

I currently have between .0011 and .0015 clearance on my main bearings. I'm looking for another thousandth across the board. The problem is I have a Crank ground .020 undersized and can't for the life of me find a bearing with another .001 extra clearance for my undersized Crank. My setup should have between 550 to 600 hp, so I'm needing a little more clearance than what I've got. Anyone know of a supplier who can help me out?

It's a factory Crank, ground .020 under size. I don't need anything for a massive fillet, just can't seem to find anyone who sells a bearing for a ground Crank that has extra clearance.

Those are rod bearings, i need mains. They're also out of stock, and designed with standard clearance from what I can tell. Thank you for your help though.

apologies, I read your original post wrong.

but dude, two hundredths undersized in a stock LS crank, might be easier to just get a new crank. this place is littered with guys that have stock stroke cranks sitting around collecting dust. that's why I asked what engine and what is this going in. this is LS1tech man, you gotta be specific.

clevite .020 p-series. There are h series bearings .020 over, but I doubt they're going to give me the clearance I need when I've got a journal with only .001 clearance. Surely there's a hx series bearing out there somewhere that is .020 over. There's all sorts for small and big blocks. I'm not seeing anything in clevite, king, or acl bearing catalogs

I gotta ask a dumb question,, have you put a micrometer on the crank journals and made sure they are actually all .020 under?
Would not be the first time I've seen crank mains not turned consistently.. I've even gotten one with oblong journals.

I haven't checked them for out of round. I just put my faith in the machinist. i probably outta check that out next time i work on it. I just can't believe how hard it is to find an hx or similar series bearing for a .20 under crank. Lol I've emailed a handful of suppliers to see if they can find any.

My machine shop sold me a standard size crank for $100. You might be time and money ahead to look around for another crank.

Not being a wise ***, but .20" is nearly 1/4". It's supposed to read -.020" for twenty thousandths under. Just trying to stop mistakes, typo or otherwise. That said, I had a damaged Callies forged crank that had to go -.020" on mains and rods, due to lost oil pressure. The guys I talked to all said get a different crank, as the bearing selection just isn't there when going that far under. So I sold the crank for $300.00. This was in 2010. Maybe things have changed since then. You'll probably get virtually nothing for a stock crank. My .02.

Lot of typo's in the thread.

OP needs -.020 bearings because the -.010 bearings have too much clearance on the
-.020 under turned crank?

If that's the case could a dry film coated -.010 bearings maybe get close enough?

it's a typo. I bought a refurbished crank that didn't say it was ground, it only said it was polished so I assumed it meant there was less than .001 Removed. I'm probably going to look into a return. I'm not getting any suppliers who have a variety of bearings .020 undersized.

I would not even think of running a .020 under crank in a 600 hp engine.

not sure where you're getting -.010 from?
I have a crank turned -.020 with -.020 bearings. I need another .001 of clearance from what I currently have. From what it's looking like nobody sells a loose bearing (similar to a clevite hx series) for a crank turned -.020

you're probably right. I'm not seeing another option that doesn't require over complicating the issue.

To anybody having this issue in the future- you're not going to find this bearing. After contacting king, clevite, and acl nobody makes a .020 under bearing with extra clearance. I was snuck into line at a machine shop and lucked out by line honing my housings to the high side, along with checking clearance with much more expensive tools than I have. Thank you to everyone who helped without displaying your superiority complex.

Glad you got it fixed.
I went through the same with a .010” under crank. In my case the crank was more like .0097” under.
King fortunately made a .010 with .001” extra clearance.
Had to line hone that block too. Was an LS3.

No. Coatings aren't thick enough to make up that much size difference.....
