Default Top End Kits

So as we all know parts are getting harder to find these days and it don't look like it's going to get better anytime soon... I was looking at buying the 515hp top end kit from Trickflow for my 99 WS6, but it seems the heads are on an indefinite back order... Im really looking to get the 500hp while staying NA. I was wondering what the next best combination of top end parts or "kits" would be thats available since im limited on time. I either have or will have the supporting mods to go with it like 102 fast intake/tb, 42lb injectors, LongTubes, 3'true duals, racetronix pump, ect..... Just need the best combo of heads and cam more or less.. If you have some numbers from your builds plz do share. thanks

Check out AFR? I know they weren't as far out as the TFS on Summit last time I looked. Hit up Texas Speeds' PRC heads too.

I been lookin, just be nice if somebody had a combo with assembled heads and tested matching cam. Was also looking at Dart as well. I think TF had some 220cc cast heads in stock but less on power and if im gonna spend that kinda money id probably kick myself later when the 215cc were in stock again. IDK LOL.. TF just keeps pushing out the date. Its out to June now and i talked to a rep and it's not looking like they will have em in then either if sleepy joe keeps f@*kin things up lol

Oh for sure, but unless your lift is astronomical, your PV clearance will most likely be ok. Post up here and ask if you end up with an odd combustion chamber size or anything else odd in the static CR area.

whats your perfect setup? Give the guys at Texas Speed a call, see what they can tell you. They're a forum sponsor here and sell and make kickass parts.

Yes TSP has expanded a lot over the years. After looking at the TF combo and thinking about drive ability im not going to go too crazy on the lift. I want a little chop but nothing crazy. I do have the M6 but still want it drivable... I think i messed up with the 102mm FAST intake tho cuz i hear it robs low end torque so im trying to make up for it in a more mild cam if that's even possible. Whatcha mean by perfect set up? like ideal results or parts list?

I just meant, whats your ideal CR ratio, HP, use for the car, all that. Sometimes people chase a max HP number and the parts that will get you to that number rob power in other places.

And as far as I've seen the Fast 102 adds low end power vs say the Holley family of hi-ram intakes that are more top end drag race intakes that max out high RPM power, say in the 6-7K RPM range.

Check out Richard Holdners series of intake manifold tests for LS, great watching and great information.

Tony Mamo has several heads & cam packages proven to break 500+ whp. Darth's LS1 was making ~530 TO 540 whp with one of Tony's Mamo Motorsports set ups. I'd contact Tony Mamo, he's a sponsor too.

The 102 FAST intake picked up torque on my combination everywhere.

Nothing wrong with the TFS As Cast 220 heads..... plenty of people have made great power with those heads. My car runs quite well.

I think I got one of the last sets of TFS 220 as cast Summit had last month.

They showed to have 3 in stock and I grabbed 2 of them. I had looked everywhere else but Summit and was really surprised they had them.

I have checked out Richs stuff on YouTube actually. I haven't put to much thought into the CR since it depends on the heads i go with i figured id just end up with what i end up with. I've always wanted to build a 500 rwhp LS1. I know peak numbers aren't where i should be looking and that power thru the curve is more important. The car isn't going to be at the track. its going to be a weekend driver and car shows. I've got a sick paint job inside and out im putting on it. I've also got the all polished serpentine kit coming for the motor. But i still want it to be able to **** on some mustangs when im out and about.

I believe it, TRE motorsports has some but they are pretty pricey. Im assuming you bought them bare right?

Yes, several LS1/LS6 cars have hit 500+ whp with ported factory heads. The ones I'm aware of had Total Engine Airflow (TEA) ported LS6.

That of course with all the supporting mod's like a crank scrapper, under drive pulley etc.

450 whp is pretty doable with a heads, cam, intake package using factory heads without busting the budget. The next 50 whp to 70 whp tends to get expensive
