408 twin turbo cam
"ls 6.0L 408 lunati stroker kit 9.6:1 compression, wiseco pistons, gen 3 lq4 iron block, 821 ls3 heads, ls3 intake, NW 92 throttle body, ls6 valley cover, APS twin turbo kit running precision 6262 dual ball bearing turbos. going into a 6 speed manual transmission 2001 SS camaro. primarily a driver with maybe 3-4 trips a year to the drag strip. assume HP will be around 7-800ish."
summit recommended a 8722r1 which is a stage 3 cam - if that matters. i'm looking for an easy driver, not a lopey, impress my friends cam! anybody use this cam?
appreciate any help.
BTR stage 3 is 231/243 .618"/.617" 115+5
BTR also recommend that if you're "If you're running 58-65mm turbochargers, stepping down to the Stage 2 TT cam is a better option." Just some info in case you haven't seen it.
cheers!
that's why i asked summit about their S1 and S2 cams initially. seems S3 is "too" much.
. "Generally" the bigger stage cams make more peak HP at high RPM's, and lose power in the lower RPM ranges, so naturally everyone goes to the Stage 3/4 etc, but sometimes the stage 1 or 2 makes for a better driver. It sounds like you spoke with our phone sales. Typically, if a customer mentions a 408 twin-turbo combo we would recommend one of our stage 3 or larger turbo/twin-turbo cams. However, it sounds like you don't want a lopey radical idle and want this to be easy to get along with.
With that being said the first cam we would think of is the Ghost cam SUM-8715R1. Specs on it are .600/.575, 222/234, 115+3 with -2* of overlap. It's not something we'd typically recommend for a 408 with twins, but if you're looking for a cam that will be easy to get along with this is it. It'll be mild-mannered but when you want to turn the wick up it'll be happy to run out to 6,800+ with a .600" lift beehive. We have our own SUM-174004 .600" lift beehives. If you like added insurance we offer Trickflow .660" lift duals TFS-2500286P.

Another option is our Pro LS stage 2 turbo cam SUM-8706R1. Specs on it are .600/.575, 226/230, 113+4 with 2* of overlap. This is very popular for standard bore/stroke 6.0 applications. It'll have a steady lope but with those extra cubes, it will tame it down some and be easy to get along with. This pulls hard in the mid-range and has a good top-end. It'll be happy out to 7,000+ with either of the spring packages mentioned above.

We know our customers like combos so we put together a variety of cam combos for our Pro LS cams.
