Default Spongy lifter help.

Long story short I was practicing checking for pushrod length with a 4.8 I bought from a wrecking yard.

I was able to verify pushrod length on the intake for cylinder one. When I jumped to the exhaust on the same cylinder i noticed i could rock the rocker back against the pushrod and it felt spongy. I removed the stock pushrod and replaced it with my adjustable pushrod. I did not achieve zero lash with my previous reading but noticed the lash I did have felt spongy when I pushed the rocker against the pushrod.

So I jumped to the even side and noticed I could push down on the rockers that were in the closed position as well.

Oil pan, pump are off. Did I get air in the lifters when I was spinning the engine over? Is

Any help is appreciated.

Most all lifters come with air in them. Soaking in oil overnight, or 2 days, may help. Its hard to get all the air out until theyre pressurized with engine oil for the first time......
