5.3 Swap
I've stripped down to rotating assembly but have not touched pistons or rods. The crank and block are solid and some other misc parts but will get many new parts.
I want to keep 706 heads, have them ported, get bigger valves and new valve job. Texas Speed sells a better set of heads with 220cc intake, 84 cc exhaust and 2.045 intake and 1.600 exhaust valves with 64cc combustion chambers. They include .660 lift spring kit and 7.400 long pushrods.
Eventually, I want to add a turbo. Only aiming for max 500 hp, nothing crazy. Can anyone help me stay on the right track, I don't want blow something up.
I'm worried about the bore and PTV clearance, really don’t want bent valves. What should I do to avoid this issue?
Should I bore to a 5.7?
Is that is an option?

As for all that other stuff, nothing wrong with a set of 862 or 706 heads on a 5.3 along with a cam, ground to operate with the whole vehicle's specifications in mind. I personally would use Lloyd Elliot myself; he has some strong running setups running his cylinder heads and custom spec'd camshafts. For 500 hp at the crankshaft a 5.3L does not need a turbo, just a lot of RPM and a big bumpstick.
A 4.8/5.3 has a hard time making use of a 2.00" valve, much less a 2.054" valve. When LPE first started porting 5.3 heads long ago, Car Craft had put a pair on a 5.3L they were working on. LPE had done testing and elected to keep the 1.89" valves and small combustion chambers on the 862/706 heads. That engine made just under 500 hp with an old school Fast LSX intake that had the smaller 78mm opening and 78mm throttle body.
