Default lifter question

How long do the stock lifters last on our cars. Just had a cam installed and now I have a tick up front. Cam is a small one 230/224 .576/ .562. Could the lifters be going already?

i have never heard of a stock lifter going bad w/ normal spring pressures. do you put hardened pushrods in w/ the cam? if not could be a bent PR. What springs are you running? most springs out use stock lifters without problems.

Running 977 springs from comp cam will have advers effects on stock lifters.

I have chromemoly pushrods and Comp 918 springs. I am hoping that an exhaust leak from the header could cause a tick. I have two leaks to fix next week.

yeah your lifters are fine then... as far as worrying about spring pressures. go over you rocker arms again... lossen and retq them to 22ft/lbs
