My car been smoking for a while now. I've always thought it was oil because I have to top off the oil every now and then but my car is also leaking. Seems to be the worst at WOT but does it intermittently when idling. Also sometimes on cold starts, sometimes not. Catch can didn't fix it but it is collecting oil. The color is not really blue (grey/tan?) at all but as far as I can tell I'm not losing any coolant. Compression is good but haven't done a leak down. Car is tuned by frost (mail in) and smells pretty rich...true duals, no cats. Could this color be oil? If so, hoping it's valve guide seals and not rings. WOT
I've had a vehicle that would do that when the injectors fouled and started sticking.
A can of Techron or seafoamin the fuel fixed it right up.
When we bought our 04 Tahoe 4 years ago, it seemed to be just a bit sluggish. I bought 2 bottles (got a twofer at O'Reilly's) of high mileage Techron and ran them in 2 consecutive full tanks, and I could feel the difference after the first tank. The second one helped a bit more. Plus now I use Top Tier gas almost exclusively. For a vehicle with 240k miles, it runs very crisply on the pedal.
Yea a lot of the gas in the states these days is pure garbage..
I filled a lawnmower can a while back at a cheap station,
Ended pumping it out of the can through a fuel filter into the mower, it had so much sludge in it..

Interesting, I was wondering if I had some injector issue because the engine sometimes stutters (misfires?) a little when I give it some throttle and it's cold. I'll give it a shot, that would make my week if it cures it. Just gotta get the transmission back in lol
I agree, pull the plugs and see if any are fouled. Most likely a stuck injector, maybe two. I worked on a Lexus SC400 recently that did exactly the same thing.
