Default Bronze trunnion update...

Replaced my passenger valve cover on the TA. While it was off I checked the rockers. I have Smith Bros bronze trunnions. They have about 15K on them and they were all tight.

Ran their bronze trunnions on factory LS7 rockers with a .661 lift cam without issue. Both of my performance engines have Smith Brothers pushrods.

I haven't had any issues with stock trunnions. I was just over .600" lift, 232°/236°@.050, on a 112° LSA. I also had 921 Comp dual springs with just over 400lbs on the seat because AFR shimmed them wrong. No issues. But I went with the Comp, ahem, "upgrade." Junk in 20,000 miles. So I try to stay with OEM trunnions.......

At the time my stockers had 95k on them, so I viewed it as cheap insurance. There is a weekly car cruise that another 4th gen owner attends. Last year he walked up to me and pulled a paper towel out of his pocket that had a small piece of metal in it and asked if I knew what it was. IIRC his car had 30k or so. I told him it most likely was a rocker needle bearing. That week he did the upgraded trunnions.

Well, you definitely can't lose a needle/roller bearing when there aren't any, lol. But, be advised I have read of many of the bronze trunnions experiencing a rather high wear rate. I went with BTRs new V2 trunnions. So far, no issues in close to 10,000 miles. When I went with the Comp trunnions, I had to pitch my OEM trunnions. Once they're gone, the only way you can get new OEM trunnions again is to buy new OEM rockers, which I didnt want to do. FWIW.....
