Default ls1 to ls3 gen 3 to 4

hello everyone i was curious how hard it is to fit an ls3 in place of an ls1. Will the ls1 pcm operate with the lingenfelter gen 3 to 4 conversion harness and which is 58 tooth reluctor and 24 tooth. I understand gen 4 has the cam sensor in the front and different reluctor wheel. As far as cable driven the ls3 is a 90mm tb? So would need a cable driven 90mm tb or aftermarket and the 3 to 4 bolt adapter plate.

Is this all that would be needed to fit an ls3 or gen 4 in an ls1 plate f-body,etc?

2006-2009 Corvette LS7 engine or a 2008-2009 Corvette LS3 engine in a 1997-2004 Corvette or a 1998-2002 Camaro or Firebird.

The other idea would be to simply build a iron 6.0 gen 3 and fit ls3 heads on it for fairly cheap. Just curious i have a 2004 GTO ls1 cable driven but am curious about fitting a ls3 head style setup.

I put one in my f-body. It was generally pretty straightforward. The triggerbox saves you from having to swap the crank and cam sprocket, it is not the only thing you need to buy though. You'll need the knock sensor extension, ls1 knock sensors, ls1 to ls3 injector conversion kit. you'll need the ls1 oil sender, dipstick, map, and your oil pan - see list here:

Yeah no problem using all my 2004 ls1 gto sensors, accessories just that id be stuck with the different reluctor wheel and front cover cam sensor. The trigger box would be all that is needed? May i ask it should atleast start or read everything correctly as same original cam, crank reluctor wheel reading with the converter in place? Just would need a tune to get running as normal? Im asking incase i do have to swap engines at a later date. Mine is a 2004 gto ls1 but still has the same cable driven throttle body, ls6 block and intake as an f-body would have.

You fit one in an f-body an ls3 or 6.0 ls3 heads? Is the engine any wider or take up more space. Have any photos? The iron 6.0, ls3 head, tunnel ram or stock ls3 intake maybe an easier cheaper idea without all that extra stuff but is a bit heavier an aluminum looks nice.
Was it a stock ls3? Could you tell any big difference in power from direct swap maybe 100+hp more?
Mines a 2004 gto ls1 cable driven just before the 05 had an ls2 drive by wire which you could put ls3 heads on.

The one I put in my f-body is a GM LS3 crate motor. It has the same physical dimensions as the LS1. I made 327HP on a dyno with the LS1, with the LS3 I made 441HP (which includes the long tube headers I added at the same time). The LS3 has the crank and cam sensor that came with it, with the trigger box and a tune, and of course swapping all the LS1 accessories over to it (including an LS1 style crank pulley), it runs no problem.

The trigger box does add a slight delay on crank, to sync up, but otherwise it runs fine with the LS1 PCM

And whatever path you go, make sure you post it. Engine swaps are fun for everyone.

Don’t forget if he plans on retaining knock sensors he’ll need to get a harness extension and knock sensors for the side.

I had a LS7 in my Fbody with the Lingenfelter conversion box. Even though there is a slight delay it was barely noticeable on my car. I won’t be reusing the conversion box and will be selling it if interested OP. It has very little miles/hours on it.
