6.0L iron block is still the best place to start imo, see my post #2 and #4. If you assemble the engine yourself and just pay for the parts and machine work you can come well in under budget. You can have a 376" on the stock stroke and spend the rest on a rec port top end. Or you could do a stroker rotating assembly in the 6.0 for 402" or more cubic inches and use a stock ported cathedral head to stay within budget, Just add more cam overlap as needed with either combo to meet your goal.
