Default Rear Crank Sleeve?

Machine shop polished up crank and said there’s a groove in the back of it where the rear main seal goes. Is there a sleeve kit for it like the old sbc and had anyone used it with good results? Also if so what’s the part number for it and can I use my regular mahle rear main gasket set with it. Thanks-Josh

Can it be welded up and then re-machined?

Machine shop said a sleeve would be easier. Surprised this isn’t a more common issue? Maybe because of the mileage or he is worried about something that might not become a leak

What kind of a machine shop are you dealing with? If there is a sleeve option I would think a machine shop would be the first to know about it.

FelPro makes a couple of repair seals, but they all require machining.

I can guarantee you that you can find a good used crank cheaper than that repair. As far as balancing goes, I guess I’m the last guy around balancing an assembly, so just throw it in and go. That’s what most folks here advise others to do…lol.
