Default Drop of oil on rear main seal, fresh uninstalled engine - Problem?

I was working on my new engine a couple days ago getting the bellhousing runout measured, and when I went to install the flywheel, I noticed a very small drop of oil at the bottom of the seal. I'd prelubed the engine with a homemade pressure luber, and sent 6 quarts in through the port by the front pump while turning the engine over, until I had oil at all 16 pushrods. It's sat for a week or two now, and I'm just wondering if I may have an issue, or if a small amount of seepage is normal for a brand new, never been fired engine. I'd rather not yank the trans out once I install the engine/trans combo to fix a bad seal. I used a billet install tool to center the cover correctly, and I used the plastic tool that came with the seal to install it, it went together without any issue. So, do I need to worry?

Probably not. May have been part of the build process. The original lube used on all the various parts during assembly for example.

The crank seals in these motors are incredibly resilient and adaptable. Compare to an old SBC or BBC seal in terms of "alignment", or even worse, an old rope seal, such as a Pontiac.

I think, no need to worry. Send it.

I kind of figured so, and once it starts it should seat the seal better, it just was surprising. I used red Ultra Slick assembly lube, so I know it wasn't that. At least it's not completely terrible to remove the trans from these cars, IF there is an issue.

I think you nailed it. Once the seal gets "worked", it should conform better to the journal surface and seal properly.
At least that's my take on it. Let us know the outcome.... if any....
