Question locks/ retainer locks?

On jmx's excellent website (cam and valve swap), he recommends 2-3 "spare locks," and 3-4 "spare retainer locks." I'm not sure what the retainer locks are? I know that the locks secure the valves to the spring (I'm pretty sure anyway), but I don't see retainer locks used anywhere during the install?

Also, does TR supply or sell extra locks/ retainer locks?

Thanks.

I think he's referring to the retainers. Circular dished piece that seats on top of the valvespring, and holds the lock in place on the valve.

It's tough to buy individual locks (the little split thingies that lock into the groove on the valve), but sets of 16 are usually not too expensive.

I'd call TR and see if they have any leftovers they can sell.

With that said, I've never run into a case where I needed spares of these. Spare rocker and bolt, or pushrod, sure.

You can buy individual "locks" from the dealer for $.50/ea. Not a bad idea to have a few extra...Its easy to drop them when you have oily fingers.

Thumbs up

Oh, I see, he meant the retainers. Okay, cool, no problem. I can always stop by the dealership if I need locks. I'm gettin' titanium retainers, anyway.

Thanks fellas! Big help!
