Default Custom grind cam

So I have a motor that I put a custom grind cam into and i cant find the specs or anything to it for the life of me I'm going to try contacting the company that made it to see if they have it but in the case they dont I was wondering if tuning is possible without the specs or if im SoL and need to put a new cam in it I apologize if this is in the wrong thread

You don't need to know the specs of the cam for tuning it. This is an oversimplified explanation, but when you tune you are just adjusting A/F ratios across an RPM/Vacuum range, or an airflow range. You don't need to know the specs of a cam are or who ported heads, or what intake and headers etc.

Thank you I kept seeing everywhere about telling your tuner the cam specs so I got worried since I don't know mine

Any good tuner will want to know cam specs, along with every other detail of the build.

Agree. The info may help in giving the Tuner an idea of where to start, but a Great Tuner figures it all out. Cam specs, head specs, etc etc etc are too many variables to just go by or guess. A Great Tuner will Tune It All Right.

I think the general thought here is- It's far better to know than not to know. Pretty obvious, actually. A "Great Tuner" would still prefer to be better off knowing.

Indeed...

Tuners usually work off of datalogging. But they can get there quicker if they have an idea where to start. A first pass at a tune will basically never be perfect, right out of the box, unless it's a totally stock motor. Even having all the cam specs, odds are it'll take acoupla iterations to dial it in.

So, don't worry about it too much. May take a little longer and depending on how you get charged it might cost you a bit more. Other than that, any decent tuner can overcome not having that.
