Lifter noise when hand cranking engine on stand??
Since I've never pulled the heads, they have the original 45K miles lifters, No noise when engine pulled years ago. I'm sure the lifters have drained over the years. Do you guys think noise will go away when the lifters are "primed"?
I forgot to mention, I also replaced the timing gears and chain. The chain is an LS2 style and had a lot of slack when I first installed. I ended up buying a trick flow damper and installed that. I opened up the front cover and started rotating the crank with only one rocker arm torqued down. The timing chain would tighten as the valve would start to open then the chain would slap against the damper as the valve would start to close. Torqued down a few more rockers and at each valve event the timing chain would slap against damper. Now I have to decide to run without the damper or research for better chains.

Throw another 15 rockers into that equation, and the chain will have more consistent and constant tension on it, so less all or nothing situation as it relates to chain tension ....
