Homemade oil pump driver.....
Anyway, I made this tool myself about 15 years ago. Thinking I beat aftermarket to it by a few years! It is simple to make, except one operation. Even that one isn't that difficult. You must remove .002"-.003" from the timing gear bore. I used an I.D. grinder, but a hone would also work. Maybe even a flapper wheel in a drill motor. The idea is remove material to eliminate the press fit. Then you can make the gear spin on the crank nose. Be sure to clean the gear and the crank nose of any dirt first, and use a light coating of grease on the gear and crank, so you dont score the crank nose. Let me tell you this; if you spin the oil pump with this make sure your valve covers are in place, or have a Helluva shield set up, or oil will go everywhere!! All you need is an old timing gear, a piece of strap steel, 3 cap screws, washers, a tap and proper size drill, and a drill motor. I suppose you could weld the strap on. Anyway, this tool is cheap to make, mimics the oil system as close as you can get, and will verify you have the right O-ring in place. Good luck!!!
