Lifter noise
I pulled a valve cover and all the rocker bolts were tight and nothing was loose.
HOWEVER I did notice the lifters when on the base circle while still tight to the valve would slide back and forth on the rocker trunnion... Is this normal?
FYI, the pushrod measurement was 7.34 or 7.33 on all of the holes and I bought 7.40 pushrods. Morel's LS7 lifters were used.
I can depress the lifters when they are on the base circle and the valve is fully closed.
Specifically I can press the rocker arm down far enough on the pushrod/lifter side that it will lift the rocker arm off the valve stem.
I actually never have done this before and I’m not sure if it is normal.
And just to say it again there is for sure some preload on the lifter with the pushrods I have and the rocker bolts TQ’d down properly.
I have some longer pushrods (.025) I’m gonna install but I’m not overly hopeful. Also given the number of lifters I can depress I’m pretty sure this isn’t a failed lifter issue.
