243 heads ported on the combustion chamber good or bad??
New here so not sure if im posting in the correct thread.
The car will be getting the BTR redhot stage 2 version 2 cam along with these heads.
Found some 243 heads through a company called Allied Motor Parts out of Georgia. Planning to purchase a set of there heads, but was kinda skeptical since I dont know if porting of the combustion chamber is necessarily good or bad. Ill post the numbers from there flow sheet below. And the valves are bigger than factory valves. Thanks
Intake - 243CCExhaust - 95CCCombustion Chamber - 66-68CC
2.02/1.59 Valves
.650 Dual Springs, New retainers, spring seats, and valve seals.
Id pass on those not for the chamber, but the intake runner. @ 243cc’s those things are a hotdog down the hallway. Those ports will be lazy and inefficient with lots of dead air areas in the port.

Those are the Wilkes heads. They are not horrible, but it's a very old port design. If you want killer 243's go with either LME or GPI. Both are at max level performance for that head. I did just buy a set of Mast 243's and they are nice for the orce ($900 bare no core), but I'm regretting not going with the LME's comparatively. I had conversations with all three companies, as well. There are a lot of old port designs still out there not all are bad, but there has been 20yrs if development and learning, why not take advantage of that.
