I was wondering if there is a cam that can be made to give me the choppy idle without affecting the computer? Thanks.

What do you mean, affecting the computer? Also, do you have an M6 or A4? If you have an M6 and are just looking for sound, Hot Cam is good for that application... just about any 112 LSA cam will give you some chop, but almost all will require at least a little tuning to work right.

Might want to use the search feature to research your cam choice... lots of info here.

im hearing if you drop your idle to around 700-750 this will chop up the idle a bit.

any aftermarket part will affect the pcm in some way. in order to get the *most out of it, you will need tuning. It just depends on if the mod falls within the parameters of what the computer can handle. such as long tubes, !cats, air lid, etc. etc. a 112 lsa cam, youc ould "get by" without a tune but i have a feeling you would end up stalling out at stop lights and what not, and if you have an A4, most likely your shifts will be slightly messed up. Jason @ TS&P apparently does pretty good mail order tunes for under 300 bucks. honestly if i get a chance to put my cam in, im definately sending my pcm to Jason.
Just my thoughts

depends on what your definition of "affect the PCM". you can throw in a cam with a low LSA but more then likely you'll get po300 codes, have hot/cold start problems, surging, ect. and with an a4 forget it. if your going to install a cam do it right

I agree, do it right or don't do it at all.

A few years ago I ran a 79' 327 camaro with nice heads and a mild cam. I used to love to race these idiots that put a 240 Duration Cam in a car with a stock converter, 8.5:1 Compression and crap heads. A complete dog until 4000rpm not to mention blowing 1/2 the intake charge out of the exhaust at idle is not my idea of performance.

The LS1 seems to respond nicely to large cams, however older generation small block heads are a different story.

To me, its much more fun to be stealthy, Yes the chopping idle sounds cool, but then you better be able to back the $hit up and run fast as it is expected.

For me, nice calm idle at the light, then let it rip.

Moral of the story (IMHO) Focus on the Go rather than Show.
Take a look at the mild cams <225 duration making great power under the "curve" with a flat torque curve, that makes for a fun daily driver.
