5.3 swap Camaro

So I’m installing a 5.3 on a 99 Camaro and I know I need the accessories and intake and fuel system and bottom end from the original motor but do I need to do a DOD? If so do I need to replace my cam if I’m doing a DOD? Do I also need to do a VVT delete? Do I need to change the cam whatsoever for anything? I don’t plan on adding performance cam.

You dont have to do any of those.

If you change out the dod lifters to standard lifters then you will need to change cam to non dod

What year is the 5.3? What engine was in the 99? V6 or LS1? What trans in the Camaro?
Need much more info to be able to help.

the 5.3 is from 2003 and the Camaro was originally a ls1

03 didn't have DOD. No need to worry about it.

From: The Beach...

2003 5.3l is a direct install just drill out the drivers side ear on the front of Block and tap it Metric M10x1.5 so you can bolt up the Alternator Bracket.
