Default 7.680 pushrods?

OK guys just want to check myself here

I have a 383 LS1, running trick flow 215 CNC heads, it has an unknown camshaft in it with a medium amount of chop to it. And a fast 102.

The valve train was loud as hell in my opinion so I pulled the valve covers to check the rocker arms and such which appeared to be yella terra 1.7. My next step is going to be using a push rod length checker, but it’s not here yet.

I pulled the push rods that are in it, lucky me there’s absolutely no marking on them so by tape measure, they are 7 11/16 exactly. That comes out to be like 7.68 that seems awfully long? Which throws my thought that the push rods were too short causing noise right out the window lol

What size push rods are guys usually running with this combo with trick flow heads? I’ve read some guys need to use 7.450 or 7.5.. and best I can tell if there is any milling whatsoever of the block that’s only gonna make the push rod shorter

Curious, everybody’s thoughts

I dont know about the 215cc cathedral port specifically, but my 255 LS3 Trick Flow heads have a taller valve in them. Even with a tiny skim cut on the deck and 0.036" head gasket I used 7.9" pushrods. I would see if TFS uses taller valves in the 215cc head as well.

BUT

The length checker is going to tell you what you need to know regardless.
