Default Degree the cam when installing?

I am about to have a cam installed and have been noticing some wide ranges in prices. What is the difference between having someone just "slide" the cam in versus and more in depth install. My car only has 14000miles. Do i need to spend the extra money to have a install where they degree the cam and check out the motor? Any help is appreciated.

BTW: I will have the package deal from Thunder Racing including cam(227/224),springs, rods, gaskets. Just going to install it in dallas somewhere.

You can "degree" the cam to ensure you got the right grind and that the manufacturing tolerances are OK, but it doesn't do a lot of good if you have no way to correct any problems. If you use an adjustable timing chain/gearset, you can at least change the cam advance slightly to compensate for any irregularities.
