Re: Cam choice with these head flow numbers
The exhaust is flowing very well. No need for more duration on the exhaust side. That TR224 should work very well with those heads.

Re: Cam choice with these head flow numbers
After seeing and talking to a few people during the last few weeks I would go with something that has 6-8 degrees of more duration on the exhaust lobe. If you want a high HP setup I would try the new LG cam or a custom comp cam 230-236 on some XER lobes, 112lsa on a stick car, 114lsa on an auto. The TEA heads flow very well but if you compare apples to apples on flow data you really need a longer duration on the exhaust lobe. One of the forum members flowed the TEA heads and the intakes were right on the money and the exhaust's peaked at 215cfm or so without a pipe.
215cfm/299cfm = 72% efficiency
Here is what I noticed
-Tuner heads flow 70-72% I/E efficiency(no pipe/intake) are using a standard split cam with more duration on the exhaust lobe.
-112/111 lsa seem to make better top end power
-duration controls the power band and where you shift.
-If your heads aren't milled than I would go with XER lobes

Cam choice with these head flow numbers
Based on the below specs I am thinking a standard split cam be a better choice than what I am running to enable better exhaust flow.
What do you think?
My TEA 5.3L heads flow:
lift Intake Exhaust
0.1 69.0 52.9
0.2 139.4 107.8
0.3 201.3 160.7
0.4 251.6 200.7
0.5 287.8 231.2
0.55 298.2 241.3
0.6 299.9 251.0
My cam is a TR with duration at .05 intake 224.1, exhaust 224 with a valve lift of .563 and LSA of 112. I have headers and the LS6 intake.
