Forged Crank Questions
You still running factory main caps? Is the engine in the car still the one from Thunder last year when you had the stick?

Someone has to find their limits. LOL

It's actually still the same crank from 2 years ago when it went 10.doh at Thunder. The block on the other hand had some issues with solid motor mounts and cracking of the cylinder liners. So new main caps came with a new block.
How long you think it'll last??

If you add steel main caps and alum rods that would increase its life. Not sure what will fail first. My guess would be if its catastrophic it will break a maincap first, crankshaft second. If you get more runs on it the oil pressure will probably slowly go down until it fails a main bearing. Are the bearings showing wear at the parting line yet?
I ran a steel cap forged crank engine at 850 flywheel hp that went 9.60 @3600 pounds with no distress in the mains and crank.
Right now your going over the falls in a barrell, some make it some don't!!
Good luck and keep testing those limits!!

I've always had good looking bearings, no abnormal wear on the mains. Then again, i keep using blocks w/ the factory line hone and OE main bearings. I had some funky wear on the rods with the block that cracked liners. I bet the portion of the block forward of the solid mounts was flopping around like a wet noodle

I'm guesstimating we're already pushing the 1kHP mark at the flywheel on this one, at least based on the fuel consumption. It's got some left i'm sure, but i'll probably start a spare short block anyway
wouldn't wanna spit the motor 2 weeks before Thunder without a spare
