Large cam
Large cam I have a set of stage 2.5 6.0 L AS heads on the way to go onto of my built 347 LS1. Fast 90mm TB and intake, 1 3/4 stepped tp 1 7/8 LT's, and all the bolton's.
I have almost all the suspension on the car you can do, with 26x10x15 MT ET Drags, and a Brand new Yank 4200 conerter.
The car is driven on the streets in Fl where we have no emmision's, but not driven too much. Probally 50-100 miles per week.
I am trying to run 10.7's with the above setup in a full weight 98 TA. \
However I dont want this car to be a race car only, which is where I need a little help.
Cam ordered by Jay was a 234/238 598/605 112+4.
Again I have a A4.
I drove up to tampa a few days ago and heard a F body M6 with a 230/236 575/575 (somewhere in that area in lift) on a 112.
The car sounded radical and it's in a M6 tuned by the same guys I use for tuning.
I have a bigger cam and a A4 and dont think I would enjoy my car the way I would like if the cam is too lumpy.
I am thinking about ordering a new cam. What wopuld be the negatie of ordering something with way more timing ground in to the car?
Most cams are on a +2 or +4 which helps keep the power in a more usable area and the peek not so high.
What is wrong with +6 or +8?
Why do I see almost no cams ground with this much advance?
I have been considering staying with the same duration and lift but changing the LSA to a 115+8.
This would make the car more street friendly without having to shift at 7400 RPM's. Anyone tried this or can help me out on this subject?
