Thinking about doing a cam
I am considering doing a cam, however I drive my car everyday so I don't want anything too crazy. I've been thinking about the LS6, MTI B1, or the TR220. My car is a '98 SS M6 with Lid, Loudmouth and free mods. Here's what I'm looking for:
1. Slight lope at idle, nothing too crazy though.
2. Doesn't need tuning but will see gains once it is tuned.
3. Works well with stock heads/manifolds. I plan on doing headers shortly after but heads are far away.
4. Looking to make around 365-375 RWHP after headers.
5. Must pass emissions in NY.
Any advice guys?
Thanks in advance. BTW, I did a search on this topic and still have these questions.

Re: Thinking about doing a cam
Greater duration= bad for emissions
Higher LSA= better idle
Stick with something around a 220 duration and a 114 or higher LSA and you should be ok. There are a lot of choices out there. Just do your homework. The TR220 would work good, I think.

Re: Thinking about doing a cam
I just installed the TR220 in my 02 this past weekend. Nothing but smiles here! Car has lost none of its manners and gained loads of power. I am on the the stock tune and I don't have any ses light. The cam is 112lsa also, not the "tamer" 114.

Any of the "sewing machine" sound?
