Default chevy high performance magazine

in augusts issue there is some talk about three camshafts and four manifolds.
Camshafts are from COMP CAM: #'s are xr265hr,xr275hr,and xer281hr.
Manifolds are: truck ls1,ls1,ls6,and FAST.
First cam (xr265hr made)429/422 @ 5900/5000 per truck ls1
450/439 @ 5900/5000 per ls1
459/447 @ 5800/5000 per ls6
462/450 @ 5900/5000 per FAST

Second cam (xr275hr) 468/445 @ 6300/5200 per truck ls1
462/442 @ 6300/5000 per ls1
471/449 @ 6300/5000 per ls6
479/452 @ 6400/4900 per FAST

Third cam (xer281hr) 486/447 @ 6500/5000 per truck ls1
484/445 @ 6500/5000 per ls1
495/445 @ 6500/5000 per ls6
503/452 @ 6400/5000 per FAST

First cam
Type:hydraulic roller
Valve lift:0.522/0.529-inch exhaust
Duration at 0.050: 212 intake/218 exhaust
Lobe displacement angle: 114

Second cam
Type:hydraulic roller
Valve lift: 0.566/0.568-inch intake/exhaust
Duration at 0.050: 222 intake/224 exhaust
Lobe displacement angle: 112

Third cam
Type: hydraulic roller
Valve lift: 0.595/0.598-inch intake/exhaust
Duration at 0.050: 232 intake/234 exhaust
Lobe displacement angle: 112

I would like to know if the #'s are possible on a stock ls1 engine and if so why aren't many people doing this to acheive all this power. if i decide to do this, could just swapping out these to things be the only thing you do to this engine to make that much power without having to put anything else on there to handle the power. if not what would you have to put on there to handle such power. thanks for all you info and i would appreciate if some one can help out.

Thumbs up

Sure but remember those are STP corrected ENGINE dyno numbers probably not SAE RWHP numbers. They need to have the right valvesprings also for those cams. they are not using stock springs. But that's all totally believable.

Cam 3 is only making around 434 through a M6 with stock gears, still not bad though.

CHP used Comp 918 springs with these cams and although this was interesting to read I don't believe these parts received the proper tune to optimize their true potential.I've read all of CHP'S articles on the ls1 and gen 3"s and they are way behind the info on this website.Still glad to see them trying to work with the ls1 and some new parts!!!Did you guys see the latest Popular Hot Rodding with the new GMPP singleplale and the Hotcam and headers? It put out 503 hp on engine dyno with stock heads, but I've seen stock ls1 crate motors with headers make 429 hp on engine dyno, thats stock!!!!!
