Thumbs up Intake Manifold Porting?

I tried to do some searching and came up with only very general information.
Basically what I was wondering is...

Can the inlet be opened up to around 80mm to accept a larger TB?

Obviously a high flow set of heads with a large cam would be prerequisite to a ported intake but once you have those, what are some typical gains of a ported LS6 style intake over an unported one?

Where does most of the material come off at... where the two ports meet? Similar to a port matching? Higher up in the runner?

Yes it can be done but requires cutting and rewelding of a new mouth piece.

what about port matching where it meets the heads if you have ported heads?
