I was told to run my car on 50W for 2500 miles(new motor). im about 100 away and was woundering whats the difference in say the 10W50 Mobile 1 I normally run? Also what weight should i go to? I change the oil pretty regular(1500 miles) cause 60% of the miles are 1/4 mile runs. any insight would be great

Just run the car on 10w30 conventional oil, something like Castrol GTX or Pennzoil. I definitely would not run 50 weight oil, it's too thick.

Once it's broken in, go with a 5w40 or 0w40 synthetic, or German Castrol 0w30 (which is almost a 0w40 actually)
