Default LS1 or LS6 ??

New here and I know this has been asked before but I cant find any single threads on it.Im trying to learn more about the different hp levels, internal changes, and everything else on the stock LS1's? Also about the LS6's.Whats the big difference between them and such.Im looking into put one of them into a 67 Nova and need to learn as much as i can about them. What is the best year to buy and what should I be looking out for when going to buy.The motor will have a nitrous unit on it at first, then build a turbo set up later on.

Basically need to read as much as Ican to get an idea of what is best for what Im going to do.If this is posted in the wrong area, please tell me or move this post for me.

Thanks JR

The main differences are in the heads and cams. The LS6s have better flowing heads and more aggressive cams. The 2001 and up LS1s have the LS6 manifold. Head/Cam swaps aren't too expensive and give massive gains.

The later version LS1s (mid 2000+) also have improved rod bolts vs. the earlier versions.

If you get an LS6, it will come with an electronically controlled throttle body. You will need an LS6 ECU and pedal assembly from an LS6 Corvette to control it.

Nitrous or Turbo, go with an iron 408 LSx block. You can get a good one at HPE for $3895 forged. Then choose your heads/ cam

Internally stock, yes with the few mods I listed previously. 98 octane premium and TR6 gapped .040 on stock timing with a 12.5 A/F.

what does your camaro weigh?
Dunno? minus spare/jack, rear seats, Air, Front sway bar, and a couple of other things+ ET's and lite rims.
