Milling AFR Heads
Thanks for the info. I don't doubt AFR quality. I'm sure they flow great. One head offering can't be all things to all people. I'm just trying to figure out if they are right for my set up. I've got a quality H/C set up, and if I'm investing a good chunk of change, I expect a significant upgrade. I feel bad for the guy who added AFRs, 90 mm LSX manifold/TB and picked up 20 hp.
The only problem I can see happening is that all these big Cam only guy's will neeed to cut there pistons to run a decent compression with the AFR's..I would rather see smaller chambers without milling

You mean the guy that bolted on AFR's and removed fully CNC ported heads (not stock) and made 20 more HP with a full point LESS compression? That guy should be a happy with his results all things considered....another 15-20 HP is just an .040 mill away!!!!
Check that thread if you want to see a more detailed response I made concerning that situation.
Mr. Max....Call me at AFR if you get a chance....Would like a chance to earn your business.

That's exactly what I'm getting at. It's going to be kind of hard for me to get the compression I want while still running on pump gas and not having to go to a dome piston.
Also, you guys don't realize that you just can't take a head that has a certain "valve drop", and just start arbitrarily welding aluminum everywhere to shrink the chamber volume while still retaining the same "valve drop" which directly effects piston to valve.
The same goes when you mill the heads. What about when you mill the heads .100 to get the correct compression? How is that going to affect the valve train geometry?

guess i should be happy

keep in mind you PP numberes were low too, i wouldnt expect to gain 55rwhp with with lower compression and the additioin of a slightly better intake/tb combo.
